Figs on Monday Musings

Mission Figs

Planning a birthday party has kept me away from blogging but I’m back this week! I’m attempting to start a new series on the blog that will hopefully appear every Monday. A photo to inspire you. No- not a picture of some delicious dessert to drool over. Something raw. Something to mull over as you start your week. This week it’s all about figs.

The summer fruits are dwindling down but the fall harvest is not quite here yet. So how about some fresh figs in your dessert?  I picked up these mission figs at the local market and will hopefully turn them into something yummy. In the mean time, I’ve posted some findings and blog links that are all about figs and dessert.

  • I recently tried a fig fennel and almond chocolate bar from Theo Chocolate. Strange combo your thinking? Tasted great!
  • Chocolate covered figs from Circle B Kitchen. Yay more chocolate!
  • Caramelized and roasted figs over panna cotta from Jacob’s Kitchen. Mmm… Caramel.
  • I hear there’s an awesome fig ice cream recipe in David Lebovitz’s The Perfect Scoop. Ice cream season doesn’t have to end with summer!

Your tweet was enough to inspire me to get going and find some figs but that picture just nailed it. Sigh! I’m not sure if I find any figs but if I do, I’m definitely trying something sweet. Thanks for the inspiration! And I think its a fab idea!
