Cake scraps are pieces of cake left over from trimming and carving a cake. Don’t ever toss them. Instead, recycle them into something delicious. I like to cut them up into cubes and freeze them in a Ziploc bag. Then I get to take whatever amount of cake I want, warm it a little in the microwave and toss into my ice cream for an indulgent treat anytime! The above was last night’s indulgence into a warm chocolate cake sundae with fudge sauce, Java chip ice cream, a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cocoa nibs. It’s an easy treat for entertaining last minute guests as well!
Here are some other great ideas for using up your cake scraps:
Make cake pops…see what they are from the queen of cake pops, Bakerella.
Make rum balls…sweet chewy no bake cookies, Joy of Baking

Normally I end up eating most of it unless I’m forced to save it up for trifle or when I have some ice cream in the freezer I mix it the ice cream but one my fav ways lately is to cut them into small cubes and dip them in dark choc fondue! Ah! The pleasure!
I love cake scraps. I end up eating them with just coffee or tea, but I also really love them with ice cream as well!
Now this a delicious recycling idea that is really going to catch on!
Thank you for posting this…believe it or not, just seeing that ice cream sundae totally made my day. I may have to make and decorate a cake just so I have scraps leftover!
This looks decadent and evil and amazing and I WANT IT.
P.S. cake scrap rum balls…great idea!!
