This cocktail is so easy and a great alternative to post dinner coffee for entertaining guests. But first, I have some news to share. I’ve started to contribute recipes to a fabulous new recipe site called Food Fanatic. The site is a collection of stories and recipes from some really amazing food bloggers. Each blogger writes about their own specialized area. I will be showcasing some of my vegetarian recipes. That’s right! Now, back to the cocktail. Bread, lasagna, red wine- this is one of my favorite Italian meals. And for dessert? Tiramisu of course! But, if you’re entertaining with Italian food and don’t have time to make dessert, you can always have an after dinner drink with my favorite Italian liqueur- Frangelico. I love hazelnut anything and this is no exception. I know this drink doesn’t look fancy and I was really tempted to add some whip cream or chocolate syrup. I gave it one sip, and said there’s no way. I’m not telling you what to do but I think adding either of those things would make it overly sweet.
CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT ESPRESSO COCKTAIL
yield: 1 drink
1 Tbs chocolate shavings
2 oz half and half
1 oz of Stirrings espresso liqueur
1 oz Frangelico
1/2 oz Godiva chocolate liqueur
Garnish martini glass with chocolate shavings. Pour ingredients into a shaker filled halfway with ice. Shake and pour into chilled martini glass.
